March 31 Imperial Oil and Alberta discuss oil sands policy amid reports Imperial's Cold lake pilot could develop into a $3 billion, 125,000 barrel per day commercial project
May 3 FPC recommends overland route to bring Alaskan gas to the lower states, but splits on which of two routes should proceed
June 6 Gulf Oil Canada and Mobil Oil Canada suspend drilling in the Mackenzie Delta until the pipeline issue is resolved
July 5 National Energy Board (NEB) recommends Foothills (Yukon) Group's proposal for a Western "gas express line" following the Alaska Highway through the Yukon, British Columbia and Alberta
