| Jet Fuel |
| Any one of several grades of fu el used for jen engines. Commercial aircraft use ASTM Type A (a range flights), Type A-1 (a similar fuel with lower freezing point, used for long-range flights), and Type B (a wide boiling range fuel, similar to military jet fuel, which may include kerosene, naphtha and low-octane gasoline components). |

| One length of drill pipe or casing. |

| Joule |
| The amount of energy expended in one second by an electrical current of one ampere flowing through a resistance of one ohm. The basic unit of energy in the metric system. One kilowatt-hour is equivalent to exactly 3,600 joules. One British thermal unit is equivalent to approximately 1,055 joules. |

| Junk |
| Debris lost in a hole. |

| Junked and Abandoned |
| A well is usually junked and abandoned when there is a collapsed production casing. The company will usually re-drill to the desired area from another location at a later date. |
